Digital Section Toll In Austria

If you're driving on Austria's motorways, you'll need a vignette, which can be either digital or a physical sticker. On some motorway sections in Austria, there is also a special toll: the so-called “Digital Section Toll”. The regular road vignette does not apply on these sections of the motorway: so you have to pay additional tolls to use these “Sondermautstrecken”. Most are bridges and tunnels, such as the A 9 Gleinalm and/or Bosruck Tunnel along the Pyhrn Motorway and the A 13 Brenner Pass (Brenner motorway).

The Digital Section Toll tickets will be linked to the particular route you choose and to your vehicle's license plate. When you have a valid Digital Section Toll ticket you are legally able to use the lane marked green on the far left at the toll booths, or any open lane at the toll both. Tickets are required for passenger cars, trucks, and caravans. On each of the roads' and tunnels' individual pages, you will find more information on how the process works for that specific section.

Please note: vehicles with trailers cannot use the green lanes.

When purchasing the digital vignette, you must enter the license plate exactly as it appears on the license plate document. Hyphens should NOT be included. For German and Swiss license plate holders, hyphens and special characters are allowed.
